In the UCSD Transplant Surgery program, headed by Ajai Khanna, MD, internationally recognized transplant surgeons perform abdominal organ transplants in both adults and children. UCSD’s abdominal transplant surgeons have extensive experience in performing kidney, pancreas, liver, and multi-organ transplants. Innovative transplant surgeries, including living related liver transplant and domino liver transplant, are offered.

Transplants in children are performed under the UCSD-Rady Children’s Hospital Pediatric Transplant Program, which serves children from Southern California and throughout the Pacific Southwest. The program’s pediatric transplant surgeons are expert in advanced and complex transplantation procedures including living related liver transplant, domino liver transplant, liver and small bowel transplant, multi-organ transplant, and pancreas transplant.
